Book

Some places you visit. Others you live from beginning to end. Cala Ratjada belongs to the second kind. Set on the far north-eastern tip of Mallorca, it is one of the first corners of the island to catch the morning light. And in July, with summer at its peak, that light changes everything.

Here is a plan to make the most of a whole day. No rush, but nothing missed.

6.30 am. The lighthouse, before anyone else

The alarm goes off early, and it is worth it. A few minutes’ walk from the village, the Capdepera lighthouse has watched over Mallorca’s easternmost point since 1861. From its rocks, on clear days, you can make out the outline of Menorca across the channel.

Watching the sun rise over the sea while the village still sleeps is one of those moments you won’t find in the guidebooks. Bring a light layer: the early-morning breeze can surprise you, even in July.

10 am. Brunch with a view

Back at the hotel, it’s time to recharge. Brunch at Onmood Cala Ratjada is where the morning meets the rest of the day. No strict timetables, no formalities. Coffee, seasonal fruit and a terrace that makes you stay a little longer than planned.

12 noon. Cala Agulla: sand, pines and waves

A short stroll from the centre lies Cala Agulla, one of the most beautiful beaches in north-east Mallorca. Fine sand, clear water and a pine forest that reaches almost to the shoreline, offering natural shade.

When the wind picks up, Cala Agulla transforms. It is one of the local surfers’ favourite spots, and on calmer days paddle boarding and snorkelling take over. For somewhere more secluded, Cala Gat is just minutes away: small, sheltered and perfect for a swim away from the crowds.

4 pm. Siesta, pool and a slower pace

The afternoon heat calls for a pause. Time for the pool, a half-read book and doing nothing with total conviction. In a Mallorcan summer, the siesta isn’t laziness: it’s strategy.

7 pm. Capdepera from above

As the sun drops, head up to Capdepera Castle. This medieval fortress crowns the neighbouring town and offers one of the widest views in the area: fields, mountains and sea in a single glance. Walking its walls at sunset, as the stone turns golden, is pure photography.

Back down, Cala Ratjada’s seafront promenade has changed its skin. Busy terraces, shops open late, music in the air. A good moment to dine on fresh fish by the harbour.

10 pm. The night begins up top

And then comes the final chapter. At ON The Rooftop, the terrace of Onmood Cala Ratjada, the night comes alive with great music, cocktails and the sea as a backdrop. It is where the day ends and, at the same time, where another kind of summer begins.

From the first ray of sun at the lighthouse to the last song on the rooftop. That is Cala Ratjada in July: from sunrise to sunset, and never wanting it to end.

Book your stay at Onmood Cala Ratjada and experience summer on Mallorca’s eastern tip. Good Vibes Stay!
