Our history

The history of the company began almost 40 years ago, in 1981, with the emblematic Club Pollentia Resort.

Mr. Fernando Porto envisioned, on a family estate, a unique 85.000 m2 resort, with over 200 employees, located in a privileged environment, in front of the bay of Pollensa and in the Albufereta Natural Park.

Since 2011, his son, Arnau Porto, has been leading the business evolution, turning it into PortBlue Hotels & Resorts.

In 2015 the S’Algar Group was purchased with five properties in Menorca and in 2017 the Hotel Le Sivory Punta Cana by PortBlue Boutique in the Dominican Republic.

Thanks to this operation, PortBlue Hotels & Resorts develops and perfects its know-how in the management of resorts, receiving numerous awards and significantly improving the profitability of the properties.

In 2020, the group redefines its expansion strategy and focuses on the management of higher category assets. Consistent with this, it reached an agreement to sell the S’Algar hotels and began to explore growth possibilities in this regard while continuing to work on improvements to the hotels in its portfolio: PortBlue Club Pollentia Resort & Spa (Majorca) and La Quinta Menorca by PortBlue Boutique (Minorca).

At PortBlue Hotels & Resorts we are committed to the necessary qualification of our staff. People’s training is one of the most relevant indicators of social development. It is increasingly a key asset to combat competition and retain the talent involved in the growth and development of the company, as it is one of the most motivating factors for employees.

We believe that training is key to achieving our business goals. In an organisation with training awareness we all train everyone, starting from the management to their staff, but also for the coexistence between departments.

We have professionals with a wide range of knowledge due to the different positions that are found in hotels of our characteristics, and all this knowledge should be a source of respect and pride.

In order to strengthen our professionalism, we carry out our training plan channelling the knowledge needs shown to us by our internal organisation and, above all, those demanded by our customers and the institutions in which we are involved. Training leads us filling any vacancies with our own staff, thus achieving our own professional, qualified and demanding style.
